Tuesday's Treasures - Old Faithful!

For week 2 of Tuesday's Treasures I've decided to post a picture of my lovely piano.

This piano was bought for me when I was 7 years old (I'm now *ahem 34)!  It was bought as a gift from my Grandad on the condition that I practised hard and learned to play 'properly'.  I kept my promise and after much cajoling and nagging from Mom and Dad took my Grade 8 aged 15 - I hope I did him and them proud.

Although, I now also have a digital piano which is great for recording and other fancy techno stuff, it will never replace 'old faithful'.    I've always loved the sound of this piano, especially the rich bass notes, however it's probably now in need of a little tlc as it could do with new felts inside along with other bits and pieces.  Never-the-less, it still holds a special place in my heart and I could never part with it.

  3. Your pride & joy is rather beautiful! My mother never payed for me to have lessons when it came to a musical instrument, I longed to beable to play something but was useless at self teaching and never got the chance to have a instrument. My other half can play the drums because he had lessons as a child and he's forever going on about them and I am secretly jealous! One of many accounts I set up for Oli has money going into it especially for any extra curricular activities such as music lessons when he's older, nothing will make me more proud then buying him his own musical instrument such as a piano! :)

  5. Oh we got my eldest daughter a piano for her 7th Christmas. She played beautifully but got to a teen and just wouldn't entertain it. I regret to say I sold it a year or so ago, as it was gathering dust, I do miss hearing it being played.
    I've joined in too - http://rachgrif.wordpress.com/2010/11/16/tuesdays-treasures-old-faithful/

  7. What a shame that your daughter didn't carry on. I can remember getting a little fed up with it myself at times though but I'm so glad now that I carried on with it. Both my two have fads on learning but can never be bothered to practice!

  9. I love this! My Mom is moving and wanted to sell her piano. No way, I have many memories of her playing over the years and I want to have it. Thanks for sharing!
